I am getting to work on all the contest prizes. I may slip in the odd personal picture inbetween finishing them, but be assured, they will be done in as timely a manner as I can manage. Those of you with sketches/prizes still to claim, let me know what you would like. Oh yes, and the four contest winners now have a feature on my page, which will remain for the duration of 2009.
In other news, today I am a-making strawberry ice cream! Nom nom nom.

And now to the main reason I created this journal: oh noes I has been tagged by =
KayLoveMeow! *cowers in fear:
Your name?
Larissa-Bright
If possible, your age?
23
When did you start drawing?
Very young. I actually remember my first picture, which I'm sure my mum has stashed away somewhere. It probably looked like scribble, but it was meant to be a Red Indian called Zoe. I remember being very frustrated that I couldn't articulate my mental image of this person onto paper.
Which hand do you use for drawing?
Right.
Which is easier to draw - male or female?
I like to draw both, but I find women easier because I understand female anatomy better (being, you know, female myself).
Which is easier to draw - long hair or short hair?
Long. You can use it to cover up mistakes, plus it's all flowy and fun.
Is it easier to draw the head facing towards the right or the left?
Towards the left.
Is it easier to draw the side view of the face or the front view?
Side view is easier (assuming this does not include profile view, which I find really tricky). I really dislike the way I am drawing front view faces at the moment.
What do you have problems in drawing?
Feet. I can't stand drawing them. Hands are always tricky, but I enjoy them more than I did. I also find exaggerated expressions (okay, expressions that aren't pretty, to be specific) difficult, and also differentiating body shapes. I can't really draw skinny characters well - I always panic that their skinniness makes their head look to big for their body. I also dislike drawing anything mechanical and most things involving non-simple perspective are tricky.
What do you like to draw?
My characters.
Are you a traditional artist or a digital artist?
I think I can claim I am both - though I am better at traditional work.
Where do you start drawing from?
The outline fo the face. I have to get the face right before I continue.
What is your drawing habit that you are aware of?
That my sketches are horrible messy things. I always press too deeply on the paper.
Any tips for coloring/shading?
Work out where you think the light is coming from before you do anything, else your colouring won't look coordinated. Don't be afraid of contrasting colours - better to overcontrast than unercontrast to the extent that your picture looks flat. In digital art, I'd avoid the dodge and burn tools if possible - they have their uses, but I would never shade the whole image with them.
How long does it take to finish a piece of art?
Assuming we're talking a fully coloured piece... probably the quickest I could do a picture in is about 3 and a half hours (but this is rare). Usually I'd say between 4-8.
What music do you listen to while you draw?
I usually bung Absolute Radio on unless I've a particular desire for a certain type of music.
How long does it take you to come up with an idea?
Ideas come when they come. It's the composition of the idea that takes the time.
Your favorite drawing utensils?
Ordinary pencils, an eraser (I stole mine from the stationary room at work - I am not ashamed), Faber Castell fineliners, Letrasett promarkers, Wacom Tablet and PS7.
Your favorite color/the color that you use a lot?
My favourite colour is green - I don't think I use it a lot in art, though. Possibly the colours I use most are red and black and various browns and greys. They're certainly the markers I have to replace most often...
Your favorite style(s)?
A cartoon style that probably began as manga, but the artist has evolved into their own.
What kind of artist are you aiming for?
To be the best I can.
Thank You
Now please fill in the next columns by writing the names of the artists that match the criteria.
Artists tagged must fill in this baton. (only if you want to - I am not a tag monster^^)
As I don't know most of you IRL... I'm doing these on the basis of your artwork.
